About Me
Resisting the urge to write this in third person, allow me to share a little bit about myself. I was born to my lovely parents on a stormy winter's night in 1989. As long as I can remember, I have loved playing with shapes and colors. As a kid, of course, this meant rearranging my spaghetti into all kinds of lovely designs, much to my mother's dismay. I soon graduated to Crayons and paper, and my love for art continued.
I continued to draw as often as I could, and my world was overcome with joy when I discovered MS Paint on my father's computer. A whole new world was at my fingertips! This world mostly consisted of random lines and text that said things like "I love mom," and other wonderful messages directed at my other siblings. I continued to mess around on the computer, and eagerly took a class at my school on HTML when I was 10.
I've come a long way since learning how to make fonts ridiculously large when saying "Hello World," but my love for art and design remains. I've been doing visual design, either freelance of full time, for the past 7 years now. Yes, that means I started at 13, and yes, my first designs were terrible. They will not be shown here. Previously I worked for a wonderful little magazine in Lexington, KY, and now I'm the lead designer at a great internet company in Chicago. I still love to freelance though, and I'm currently available for work.
When I'm not slaving away on my laptop (soon to be a new 13" Macbook Pro!), I enjoy a good many things about life. Mainly my family, friends, my faith, and any combination thereof. I love to read, which I do in large quantities daily. I'm really interested in and passionate about social justice, sustainable development, and human rights. I'm currently studing Linguistics in college, where I enjoy playing tennis, flag football, soccer, and going to Chicago's best beach. I love to travel, and I've been to 4 continents and a couple dozen countries. My parents also live in China right now, which is awesome.
By now you should have a general idea of who I am; if you want to know anything else, feel free to ask!
